6 Snow-Day Pick-Me-Ups

Dr._Pepper

DP in a cake? Why the hell not.

I’m back! Sort of. At least a version of me is — making a brief appearance.

It’s the first real snow of the winter.

And you know how I feel about that.

So, in the interest of maintaining my sanity, in true form, I’m turning to lighthearted distractions.

Current pick-me-ups include:

* this Dr. Pepper Oatmeal Cake with Coconut-Pecan Topping via Homesick Texan.

* Norma Kamali’s new line of adorable LBD’s (for every body type!) under $100.

* these kid-crafty DIY Chunky Bead & Button necklaces via Curious Jane + momfilter.

* this adorable Reine Mere Peg + Chalk Board from Basic French.

I want. In my kitchen. Now.

* these Chelsea Heel Boots from Marais USA (I’m generally anti-ankle boots, but these I think I could get behind.)

* just knowing there’s the new AB-FAB waiting for me on DVR.

Stay warm! Fingers crossed the Year of the Dragon has some good sh*t in store.

I’m ready.

TTFN.

Willing Spring to Come

Despite the gloomy gray skies and intense news day, I’m looking forward to real, life-affirming spring weather — willing it to (finally!) come to New York City and settle in for real.

Helping fuel my bright outlook….

Calypso St. Barth comes to Target:

Sleeveless pink tunic, $40, Target. Yes, please.

After a prolonged period of lust, these blue espadrilles have found a home in my closet:

This shot of poppy red would look good on my shoulder (and yours, too):

Boden leather trim tote in poppy, $88.

Smorgasburg, an all-food version (!!!) of the Brooklyn Flea, opens in Williamsburg on May 21:

Yum.

OK, sun — come find me!

Currently Obsessed with… the Espadrille Wedge from Marais USA

These adorable summer shoes were just featured in The New York Times. I missed the piece, of course, since we NEVER have spare minutes to read The Times, but luckily Sarah, my MIL, clued me in about it. Now I’m obsessed.

Two Brooklyn-based designers spent a summer in Paris and returned home to design a line of chic but accessible footwear inspired by the ‘hood known as the Marais. And, oh, the chaussure cuteness that ensued!

Browse MaraisUSA.com to see other shoe styles (note the criss cross sandal in hot pink), find local retailers, or place an order for the espadrille wedge sandal.

The only question left: Tomato or emerald green?
