June 5 – 6: Weekend Links for Brooklyn Mamas

Fancy Nancy dress-up shoes

Fancy Nancy Dress-Up Shoes, Target, $10 (but ours are beloved hand-me-downs from our friend, Maggie)

Gonna have to be a short weekend post today — P. S. 295 Field Day (aka torturous walk in sweltering heat with three Kindergarten classes from school to Prospect Park, relay races in sun, torturous walk home) nearly effing killed me. So instead of a long list — and there’s a whole slew of NYC coolness happening this weekend — I’m picking just two things I really like.

Summer’s here! Go get ’em.

Come Out & Play Festival at the Brooklyn Lyceum and Egg Rolls & Egg Creams Festival at the Museum at Eldridge Street, both via Mommy Poppins.

The first involves games, techie and otherwise, that sound fun and unusual — an iPhone scavenger hunt, balls and parachutes, and more. Win the scavenger hunt and score an iPad! Dang. (Sign up to play at the Lyceum. First come, first served.)

The second involves Lower East Side history and culture, and of course the fabulous combination of kosher Chinese egg rolls and classic NYC egg creams.

Good, right?

Happy weekend, mamas!

(Fancy Nancy Dress-Up Shoes from Target — shop in stores only, styles and availability may vary.)
