Summer Baby Names (Love This List!)

Magnolia at the beach

Beach baby.

I have two summer babies — one born end of July and the other beginning of August. We didn’t strictly choose summer names for them, but we did choose nature-inspired names, which I think have a similar feel. Must be why I loved this awesome list from the ladies over at nameberry!

That, and the fact that we know several parents who did go with summer or summer-inspired baby names. These are a few of the babes we know:

And here are a few other names on the list that we just like:

What do you think of these summery choices? Are there other nature-inspired baby names you like?

Funny, Kim! I see on the nameberry list it is a popular French choice for girls — would you say that is true?

And, hey — IS there something we should know?! (P.S. — For what it’s worth, I do like the name!)

Not hiding any news here! (boy you two made me laugh!…but why are you debating names???!!) At Clara’s birthday we had the kids take a swing at the pinata…in alphabetical order and so we were shouting out names for each letter. Oceane was one of the names that came up and everyone was like, ahhh that is such a pretty name…but we don’t know any. I think that there might be one somewhere at school but I don’t know her.

And we love our August! A few things about the name that have surprised me…

When people see his name and haven’t seen him, they more often than not think he’s a girl.

It’s a family name and has nothing to do with summer, but I met a woman at the playground recently who was going on and on about how huge August was compared to her niece the same age. He is a big boy, but I realized she assumed he was named August b/c he was born in that month. She thought he was 5 months younger, and that much bigger.

I thought he might end up a Gus (and he may still) but right now, Auggie seems to be the nickname everyone uses. All good, I like them both.
