Weekly Menu: July 4th-10th (or, keeping it cool inside when it’s hot outside)

Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July! The menu is a day late because we haven’t been around. We were out in Connecticut, enjoying pool time a-go-go, a great boat ride on Cinnamon Girl, and terrific food and company (thanks M&D!).

Cruising on the Fourth

As we drove back to the City this afternoon (no traffic, hooray!), the thermometer in the car kept climbing. When we hit Queens, we also hit 101 F.  Oh yeah. Accuweather posted a red thermometer instead of a sun. The “real feel” is forecasted to be over 100 F all week!

It's hot. Damn hot.

So it’s all about the grill and the microwave, minimal effort and maximum shade. The window units are cranking (short prayer for the power to hold).

Monday: Pizza on the Grill (Asparagus & Goat Cheese for Melisa & I, cheese for the kids) with shredded Red-Leaf Lettuce Salad from the CSA

Tuesday: Grilled Chicken Breasts Marinated in Spiced Yogurt with Tzatziki, Blistered Squash (CSA!) and Toasted Pita

Wednesday: Grilled Corn and Shrimp Tacos with Homemade Salsa and Lime Slaw

Thursday: Saté Chicken Salad (we got a head of cabbage from the CSA this week)

Friday: Grilled Bone-in Rib-Eye Steaks & Zucchini, Corn on the Cob with Parmesan and Cilantro

Saturday: I don’t know. We may have to eat out. But possibly Big Burgers all Around!

Stay cool!

We'd rather still be out there.
