Grub Street Food Festival: Saturday, October 16

Grub Street Food Festival

Sadly, this coming Saturday morning, I have to deal with the hell that is member registration for kids’ swim classes at the Prospect Park YMCA. Then we’re heading out of town. Otherwise, I would *totally* drag my kids to this food fest I just read about.

The food at the Brooklyn Flea gets all the attention but, still, I’d heard vaguely about the Hester Street Fair on the Lower East Side — they’ve been open weekends since April, and will be through the end of the year. It’s located in the Seward Park Co-op (Hester Street at Essex Street) and is both flea and food, but with the emphasis on food.

This Saturday, October 16th, Hester Street Fair is partnering with New York magazine’s Grub Street to put on a super-sized block-party bash with over 40 of their favorite food vendors. (We sampled one of them last weekend on Governors Island — heavenly macarons from Macaron Parlour.)

Treats from New York's Macaron Parlour.

Others on tap will be: sandwiches from Cheeky, lobster rolls from Luke’s and Ditch Plains, tacos from Cascabel, barbecue from several smoky sources, ethnic delights, baked goods from Grandaisy, Hot Blondie’s, Pies-N-Thighs, and lots more. Yum.

Scan the poster above or check out the full list of vendors.

Entry’s free, just pay for the grub.

Those macaroons are so pretty! June got a pumpkin one at Joyce yesterday. She just stared at it. Carried it around. . Never tried it. But we’ve graduated from the cheese straw (although the cheese straw is much cheaper!). x p.
