March 12 – 13: Weekend Links for Brooklyn Mamas, the Music Edition

Lucinda Williams Blessed

So psyched. Going to see Lucinda Williams tonight at Webster Hall! (Thanks, Aunt Katie, for the free babysitting. Totally appreciate that you responded to my pathetic Facebook plea!) It’s been way too long since I’ve seen a live show.

We’ve been listening to her latest release, Blessed, in anticipation — you can hear two tracks from it, “Buttercup” and the title song, on her site.

Other music we’ve been loving — Erin Ivey‘s new album, Broken Gold. We discovered her while we were in Austin. It’s a little mellow, a little funky, a little sweetly sexy. Sort of like a fresher Norah Jones (you know, that you haven’t already heard a million-bazillion times.) Check her out via the “free random download of the moment” feature on her site.

More music on my mind….

winter concert series at P.S. 295

Head on over to P.S. 295 this weekend to shake your groove thang!

This Sunday’s Brazilian Dance Party that’s part of the Winter Concert Series at P.S. 295.

Get a long list of kids’ weekend music listings over at A Child Grows in Brooklyn — there’s a LOT going on.

A production of “Annie” in Bayside sounds like fun for kids 12 and under and — it may not be musical — but the Spring Artisan Fair in Astoria, complete with toys and chocolate, sounds cool. Both via Mommy Poppins.

It looks like it may actually be NICE out Saturday and Sunday, so party on.

Happy weekend!
